A Little (Blue) Birdie Delivers A Big Gift – Our New Website!

Hopefully many of you have noticed our new website, compliments of Red Kite Creative and the amazing abilities of Debbie Campbell. Hooking up with Debbie is a testament to the power of social networking and the fact there are great people out there willing to give their time and talents to causes like Loveland Habitat for Humanity.

Debbie answered a “classified” ad of the 21st Century – a Tweet on Twitter! Rob Smith, one of our Board Members, our Executive Director Gwen Stephenson and I had been wanting to work on a new site, one that was very user friendly, could be updated on a dime and mirror what our organization really represents. On a whim, Rob sent out a Tweet one afternoon,  asking if anyone knew a good website developer that was versed in WordPress. I ReTweeted the Tweet and not 15 minutes later Debbie DM’d (Direct Messaged) Rob about her company!

An old-fashioned phone call took place – yes via new technology Smart Phone – between Rob and Debbie, which led to a coffee house meeting. Through the world of WiFi, Debbie showed Rob and I her clients’ site, shared her vision for habitat’s web presence and then she dropped the other cyber foot; she wanted to build the Habitat site pro bono, her way of giving back to a cause she believed in!

So began our journey into website update land, with Debbie leading the way. She understood exactly what we were looking for, managed all content transfer and kept us in the loop with language any tech novice would understand. Soon afterward we had a new site and the results are wonderful. She patiently set up tutorials as I learned to navigate the back end of the site and even now, will help with those update/upload problems I seem to encounter in a moment of self-frustration.

Loveland Habitat for Humanity would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Debbie and Red Kite Creative. She truly embraces our mission of helping those in need with a hand up, not a hand out as we build homes for deserving families right here in Loveland.

We also want to thank Rob Smith for reaching out through the very technology we now incorporate in our website.  We think Debbie would agree that she heard about our wish from a  little blue birdie!
